Overview I was one of the 4 founding members of the Appstore Innovation Lab (AIL). This initiative was sparked by the need to create a mechanism that would serve as an incubator for BIG ideas that individuals from the Appstore team had come up, but didn’t have the time or resources to truly explore and prove out their ideas. As the UX Stakeholder for AIL, I helped coordinate rotating strike teams that would spend 2 weeks in a design sprint dedicated to a specific project that the AIL leadership group felt could add significant value to our customers and our business. This required developing a charter, a development plan, obtaining director approval, coordinating with other managers to secure cross-disciplinary resources for the 2-week design sprint, defining the process and learning from our mistakes, and delivery a functional prototype at the end of the sprint.

Results Through the AIL program, we delivered 4 completed projects with functioning prototypes, over a 10-month period. During that time we gained significant learnings and the projects gained VP visibility. The final project went on to spark the GameOn service which launched in 2017.
